SEIU 1199 asks for an extended worker vaccination deadline
Connecticut's governor, Ned Lamont, signed an executive order that would require all nursing home employees to be vaccinated. This order prevents nursing homes from employing anyone “who has not received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by September 7th.” Connecticut's largest health care union, SEIU 1199, said that nursing homes will face staffing shortages without an extension of this deadline. They are asking the governor to give nursing homes another 30 days to ensure all employees are vaccinated. Nursing homes found in violation of the order face $20,000 a day in fines.
