SEIU Wins Election to Represent Minnesota Home Care Workers
In a vote held Tuesday in Minnesota, 27,000 home care workers became members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). While there were only 6,000 ballots cast, SEIU gained 61 percent of the vote. This marks Minnesota?s largest negotiation of public-sector workers. This victory came as a surprise after the Supreme Court ruled that workers were not obligated to be unionized and pay the associated representation fees.
