Senators Question Employer Requests for Facebook Passwords
Two Senators have asked the Justice Department and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to investigate whether asking for Facebook passwords in a job interview violates federal law. After reports of employers asking for passwords surfaced last week, Facebook said that employers should not ask, and that any applications that promote password sharing violate its privacy policy, Facebook also said that employers could open themselves up to discrimination claims if applicants were part of a protected class. The Senators say that they are writing a bill that will fill in gaps around this area.
