Send disruptive students to separate school: Teachers Union president
In a speech Thursday, Chicago Teachers Union president Marilyn Stewart offered some thoughts on students and teachers. Ms. Stewart said that ?chronically disruptive? students should attend a separate school until they learn to behave. She said teachers can?t teach and students can?t learn when they are being chronically disrupted, and she blamed school administrators for a lack of support. ?Too often, the principal returns disruptive students to the classroom like a boomerang.? Additionally, Ms. Stewart lauded a teacher training and evaluation program funded largely by Schools CEO Ron Huberman. The program helps teachers to study for and pass National Board exams, and runs a mentoring program designed to help struggling teachers and/or discover poor teachers.
