Senior doctors in England will strike to demand greater pay and better working standards
In the recent British Medical Association’s vote, a large majority of senior doctors in England have supported the motion to strike. These physicians have experienced large salary cuts since 2008, and many doctors have also experienced burnout from constant staff shortages. England faces the threat of losing many of its senior doctors if working conditions and salaries do not change. Physicians have considered early retirement or leaving the country to work elsewhere. Senior doctors will be going on strike on July 20 and July 21, and junior doctors are planning to strike even longer, from July 13 to July 18. Junior doctors have also been fighting for pay increases, and have gone on strike three times throughout the past year.
