Settlement reached in Ithaca hair stylists' labor issue
A settlement won by the Tompkins County Worker?s Center against beauty industry giant Regis Corporation will have broader consequences for the company?s 57,000 employees nationwide. The Center had filed charges of unlawful labor practices on behalf of two Ithaca-area Cost Cutters workers who were fired after complaining about one of the company?s policies. As a result of the settlement, the NLRB has dictated that Regis must abandon the practice of forcing employees to sign anti-union ?Yellow Dog Agreements?, and publicly acknowledge workers? right to organize.
