Signs of Factory Revival Hard to Spot
While industrial production has grown, economists caution that the gains are small compared to what has been lost. While factory closings have declined, factory openings has also declined, meaning that the number is shrinking. Manufacturing has added over 500,000 jobs since 2010, however about 5.7 million jobs were lost between 2000-2010. While some say that manufacturing will begin to grow faster, others say that it will take more than an improved economy for a true expansion.
