Skywest Airlines allegedly fired two employees for union organization efforts, faces lawsuit
Skywest Airlines is facing a lawsuit filed by the Association of Flight Attendants- Communications Workers of America, after two employees were fired in September. The union claims that the employees were fired because of union organization efforts, and this action is illegal under the Railroad Labor Act. Skywest Airlines has stated that the workers weren’t fired because of their union activity, but because they leaked private employee data. The employees rebutted that the data was compromised and no longer private, and it was already publicly available when they accessed the information. In the lawsuit, the union is seeking the reinstatement of the employees and the wages and benefits lost by employees during their period of unemployment.
