Some Retail Workers Find Better Deals with Unions
The Macy?s in New York City?s Herald Square is unlike many other retail stories in Manhattan. The workers are represented by a Union that guarantees employees minimum hours and predictable schedules. Stores in Manhattan whose workers are not protected by a Union live a vastly different life. The clothing store Zaras will often schedule workers last minute for short shifts. Workers only making $11 per hour for 16 hours a week are struggling to afford rent and support their families.
