South Africa truckers sign wage deal, strike off
South African truck drivers have signed an agreement that will end a three-week strike. Over 20,000 truck drivers have accepted the agreement, which includes wage increases of 8-10% over the next three years. Over 100,000 South African workers have participated in strikes since August, many in the mining industry. The strikes have effected output, and in the case of the truck drivers, caused some shortages of fuel and goods. A government workers' union that represents about 190,000 workers has said that it is planning to strike next week.
