South African?s Ruling Coalition Crumbles as Union Splits
The African National Congress (ANC) is struggling to maintain control as the largest labor union has split. On November 8th, the Congress of South African Trade Unions separated from the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) and their 350,000 members. NUMSA has revoked its support for the ANC and may run against the ANC in the 2016 municipal elections.
