Southwest incentivizes employees to work through expected travel surges over the July 4th holiday
In an internal memo on Monday, Southwest Airlines offered employees overtime and double pay for working through the Independence Day travel surge. The airline has had many cancelled and delayed flights this month due to technical difficulties and bad weather in addition to a shortage of employees. The company will incentivize employees to work through an anticipated surge in travel over the holiday week by increasing overtime and offering double pay for shifts worked July 1st through July 7th.
