Spaniards wage nationwide strike against austerity
A general strike in Spain shut down some public transport and led to clashes between protesters and the police. While unions said that the strike was widely participated in, the government says that not that many workers participated. The strikes are over austerity cuts and labor reforms that the government is implementing. The changes will make it easier for employers to fire workers. The government says that the changes are necessary for the economy.
