Spanish unions have called for a demonstration in Madrid on September 6th to protest against adding balanced budget rules to the Spanish constitution. Union leaders say that the rules would threaten welfare institutions, and that they were not the way to fix Spain's problems. The Labour Union and the General Workers Union also called for protests on Wednesday and Thursday to protest the reform.
