Stagehand contract between ASM Global and Denver City Council approved, City Council also implements new rules regarding pay theft claims
The Denver City Council has reached a deal with ASM Global, a major venue management services company. The contract will pay ASM Global thirty million dollars to provide stagehand services, and the company will be responsible for staffing the famous Red Rocks venue, along with various other venues in the Denver area. Many stagehand workers are represented by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union, and the union has previously stated that ASM Global has failed to follow city wage laws. The two parties have had pay disputes in the past, and the city council voted to grant the Denver Auditor’s Office certain subpoena powers that will be able to request employee time cards and other records. This decision will allow the city to better handle pay disputes and wage theft claims.
