Starbucks appeals decision in Memphis union case and court order to rehire fired workers, claiming lack of evidence of anti-union bias
On Thursday, the legal dispute regarding a Starbucks location in Memphis, Tennessee where union organizers were fired was brought to an appeals court. Previously, a judge had ruled that Starbucks' firing of these workers was unlawful because they were motivated by anti-union bias and had ordered the workers to be reinstated. Starbucks is appealing this decision, but if this case is lost, it may further increase scrutiny of the company's labor practices as there are already more than five hundred complaints filed with the NLRB against the company for illegal labor practices.
