Starbucks employees at over 100 unionized locations go on strike to demand company to bargain in good faith with Starbucks Workers United
On Red Cup Day, one of Starbucks' busiest sale days of the year, unionized Starbucks workers at over 100 locations went on strike. This large labor action is being called the "Red Cup Rebellion," which reflects many baristas' frustrations with being understaffed and underpaid at busy Starbucks locations, especially during the holiday season. In response, Starbucks has released a statement claiming its commitment to all of its workers and making the company supportive of everyone. However, the unionization process at Starbucks has been very contentious, including many legal battles with the NLRB and slow-moving progress on contract negotiations with the 257 unionized locations.
