Starbucks fires worker who helped unionize first store
On Sunday, Starbucks Workers United tweeted out that Cassie Fleischer, an employee who helped lead the union campaign at the first corporate-owned store to unionize, was fired. Fleischer said that she had reduced her available working hours and was subsequently told that she would be terminated if she did not open her availability back up. Starbucks told Fleischer that she “no longer met the needs of business.”
