Starbucks sees its first union
Out of the three Buffalo area Starbucks stores, only one has voted to unionize. Workers voted to unionize 19 to 8 while workers from a second store rejected unionization 12 to 8. Their third store is now facing a legal battle as 15 votes were casted for unionization and nine against but seven were challenged. The Starbucks store workers who voted to unionize will join Workers United. A labor studies professor at Rutgers says, “we will likely see many, many more organizing drives.”
