Starbucks, union agree to bring in mediator for contract talks
Starbucks and the union representing thousands of baristas have agreed to bring in a mediator to help restart contract negotiations and work toward a deal. Talks have been ongoing for months now with a few disruptions, with the union accusing Starbucks of failing to present a full contract proposal. Both sides acknowledged some progress but see mediation as necessary to resolve remaining disputes. Starbucks said it participated in multiple bargaining sessions and reached 30 agreements, while the union has filed over 90 labor complaints and staged a five-day strike before Christmas, leading to store closures in major cities.
