Starbucks’ union drive reaches an end
Starbucks workers in upstate New York are voting for unionization. Over 80 workers between three stores around Buffalo have been voting by mail on whether to join Workers United. The election ends today, and the results are expected to be in tomorrow afternoon. The Starbucks workers requesting unionization say they want better staffing, training and pay, and wage increases. Just days before federal officials set the union vote, Starbucks announced that they would be raising their starting wage to $15 an hour, boosting wages for tenured staff, and making changes to its training and scheduling.
