Starbucks wants to recruit 10,000 vets, spouses to its ranks
The world?s largest coffee shop chain is looking to hire at least 10,000 American veterans or spouses of veterans or active military members within five years. The company will also be donating a portion of all sales at five stores, the first two are in San Antonio, Texas and Lakewood, Washington, toward non-profits that help veterans reintegrate to civilian life. The company is hiring for far more than just baristas, which is why it is going to special lengths to train its recruiters to identify unique skills developed through military experience and match those skills to company jobs. Not only is the company helping veterans; Starbucks sees an untapped labor pool with extensive international experience and leadership and language skills which will help the company continue to expand overseas.
