State employees rally at capitol for better pay, benefits
In West Virginia, state employees traveled from all over to protest a variety of job terms and conditions as well as wages. Some workers complained about 14-hour days due to mandatory overtime, others were angry at making near minimum wage after a decade on the job. Turnover has become a huge issue, especially with the employees working in transportation jobs because they are able to make about twice the money in fewer hours with the oil and gas industry. Turnover and other issues have led to current staff being hugely overworked on top of other stresses.
