State, local governments cuts 200,000 workers
According to the U.S. Census, state and local governments cut more than 200,000 jobs in 2010. The Census showed that the majority of local governments cut jobs in 2010. Both Rhode Island and North Dakota had drops in public employment of over 7% between 2009 and 2010. California lost the largest number of part-time public jobs, while Texas added the largest amount of state workers, adding 17,800 full-time jobs.
