State officials say Park District violated labor law, order employee reinstated
The Illinois Labor Relations Board has ordered Plainsfield Park District to reinstate and employee within 20 days with back pay, 7 percent interest, and restored seniority. The employee?s termination resulted after he and a coworker were ?interrogated? by a member of management after having discussed organizing a union. The employee was then transferred, disciplined, and terminated. The transfer and termination all happened after the employee and a majority of his coworkers had signed authorizations cards and filed for certification with the AFSCME, but before any vote could take place.
