States are challenging the federal vaccine mandate
After the Biden administration's announcement of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for employers with more than 100 employees on Thursday, at least 27 states have filed lawsuits challenging the rule. The administration said that each violation of the rule will incur a $14,000 fee and they say that they are confident that their requirement will withstand legal challenges “in part because its safety rules preempt state laws.” On behalf of 11 states, in a court filing the Missouri attorney general said that this mandate is “unconstitutional, unlawful, and unwise.” A spokesperson from OSHA also said, “we are fully prepared to defend this standard in court.”
