Stellantis and the United Auto Workers union agree on tentative contract
The United Auto Workers union and Stellantis reached a tentative agreement Sunday, after six weeks of strike action. Stellantis, one of the Big 3 Automakers, is the second company to reach an agreement with the UAW after Ford and the UAW agreed on a tentative contract early last week. Stellantis is the parent company of Ram, Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler, and factories for these car brands were affected by strike action. The tentative contract offers workers large wage increases, as well as the reopening of a closed Illinois assembly plant. Wages will increase by 25%, and the wages will also be adjusted to match inflation. The contract will be sent out to UAW Stellantis workers shortly, and employees will return to work while they vote on the proposed measures. If they approve the contract, strike action will officially end, but if workers reject the contract, UAW and Stellantis will resume negotiation.
