Still Few Women in Management, Report Says
A report that will be released on Tuesday by the Government Accountability Office shows statistics on the differences between men and women in the workforce for 2007. The report shows that women accounted for 40% of managerial positions, which making up 49% of the workforce. the report also showed that women still make less than men, with female managers making 81 cents for every dollar male managers make. Only three industries had a larger share of women in management than outside of it, public administration, construction and utilities. The amount women make was also lowered by having children, with mothers making 79 cents for every dollar fathers made. The report was based on data from the Census Bureau.
