Strike by Kenyan Tea Workers Enters Fifth Days Amid Dispute Over Impact
Around 20,000 Kenyan tea workers are entering the fifth day of their strike protesting the increased use of machines which can replace up to 60 workers. The unions say that the strike is continuing because mangers did not attend a meeting that was scheduled for yesterday. However the Kenya Tea Growers Association says that they did not know about the meeting, and that the strike is having only a minor impact. The union says that they will encourage their members to continue the strike. Kenya produces the majority of the world's black tea.
