Strike by players to halt Serie A in Italy
Players in the Italian soccer league Serie A announced plans for a strike on September 25 and 26. The strike is over a proposal by club owners that would allow them to force players to switch clubs if they were still under contract. The proposal says that if a player refuses a transfer, he must renegotiate his contract with the club. This is the latest threat to strike by the players after their contract expired this summer. None of the other strikes have occurred, as the players stepped down or came to an agreement. The club owners say that they will propose a new deal on Monday.
