Strike-Hit South Africa Braces for More Labor Turmoil
South Africa has experienced 114 labor strikes just this year and conditions seem to be worsening. Recently the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa was ousted from the Congress of South African Trade Unions. The economic growth rate for 2014 is expected to be the lowest since the 2009 recession as 1.85 million working days were lost as a result of the many strikes this year.
