Strike hits parts maker for Oshawa GM plants
About 850 members of Canadian Auto Workers Local 222 walked off at the job at a key supplier to General Motors, which may force two GM assembly plants to shut themselves down in Oshawa today. The strike at Johnson Controls, one of the world's biggest parts makers, would halt production and delivery of numerous interior components to GM's No. 1 and No. 2 car assembly plants. Those plants assemble more than 2,500 Pontiac Grand Prix and Allure and Chevrolet Impala models daily.
