Strike hurts profit at Boeing
27,000 machinists, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, in Washington, Oregon and Kansas continued their strike at the
Boeing Company today. The strike, which began on September 6, has boded ill for Boeing profits ? third quarter net income dropped 38%. Chief Executive W. James Mc Nerney Jr., has been chatting informally with the labor leaders and is convinced a deal will be reached soon. He is concerned over management rights however, especially in the environment of financial crisis. Talks are scheduled to resume tomorrow. The union hopes to gain new or regain jobs as the rate of outsourcing increases.
