Strike Risk Rises as Union Rejects South Africa Gold Pay Offer
In South Africa, employees of AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. represented by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) have rejected a wage proposal, which could now lead the members to go on strike. If the mining companies can get three unions to sign their wage agreement, workers with the AMCU will not be protected if they go on strike and could face losing their jobs.
