Strikebound, the Globes Scale Back Awards
The Golden Globe Awards will be eschewing the traditional red-carpet and black-tie gala awards show in favor of a news conference, in response to striking writers' picket threats and actors' refusal to cross picket lines to attend. The writers are maintaining their picket threats until they've received assurances that the show, which drew in 20 million viewers last year, will not be "an awards show disguised as a news conference."
