Striking Freeport workers reject 35% pay rise
Workers at the Freeport mine in Indonesia have rejected the company's latest contract offer. Around 8,000 workers have been on strike for the past two months. The newest offer included a 35% pay increase, but the union says that the discussions stalled over an increase of the minimum wage. The union was asking for $4 an hour, but the company offered $1.35. The company is also being pressured by the government to pay more revenue to Indonesia.
