Striking Lockheed workers begin to feel financial pinch
Lockheed Martin employees went on strike three weeks ago, and many workers are feeling the impact. With plans for a strike in the works for months, workers were prepared for some of the consequences of the strike, but others are beginning to take their toll. Workers rejected the company's contract offer on April 22, which would have eliminated pensions for newly hired workers and increase healthcare costs. Workers will begin to receive strike funds from the union, but as strikers, they are not eligible for unemployment benefits. No new negotiations are planned.
