Study: Some needy jobless denied training
One-Stop Career Centers are partnerships between federal, state and local governments that provide job-training services to people in communities across the nation. In order to receive federal funding, the centers much reach a certain performance level in areas like job replacement rates and wage increases. These requirements have caused the centers to turn away certain unemployed workers who they predict will be less likely to find employment or increase their earnings when placed in a job. The Labor Department has plans to reorganize the funding for the program.
