Swaziland Labor Unions March for Democracy in Manzini, Bid to End Monarchy
Labor groups in Swaziland protested in the biggest city in the country to demand democracy. Swaziland is an absolute monarchy, and the unions say that they need opposition parties to watch the government. The country raised taxes and cut spending this year. South Africa agreed to loan the country over $300 million, but the money is conditional on talks with all stakeholders. South Africa's biggest labor union, Cosatu is against the loan, which it says will only sustain the monarchy. The protest was the second day of a week of protests.
