Target to Drop Health Insurance for Part-Time Workers
On April first, Target will be cutting its health insurance for part-time employees because of changes the corporation has had to make to its benefits universally due to Obamacare. The change will affect about 10% of the company?s part-time employees. Under the Affordable Care Act, if an employer offers an employee coverage, they may be disqualified from some of the subsidies offered by the law. Target reasons that the employees it will no longer cover may be able to obtain better insurance for cheaper on the healthcare exchanges if the employees use the subsidies which limit insurance premiums to less than 9.5% of a person?s income.
