Teacher says Catholic schools fired her because she was pregnant
A woman who claims she was illegally fired by two Roman Catholic schools after undergoing in vitro fertilization said other staff members were not punished for having similar treatment and she was let go only when she became pregnant. The school district has said that the woman was fired for violating a provision of her contract that says a teacher must act in accordance with Catholic doctrine, which considers in vitro fertilization morally wrong.
