Teachers union concedes Amendment 54
Although two of Colorado's anti-union Amendment proposals failed in the election, the Colorado Education Association admitted defeat today after Amendment 54 passed by a narrow margin. The Amendment bans political contributions from unions representing pubic employees, and even extends the ban to immediate family members. Union leaders are expected to challenge the measure in court on constitutional grounds. The Amendments that did not pass would have barred compulsory union fees, and banned automatic paycheck deductions of union fees.
