Teachers union opens a front on former Sacramento mayor's charter schools
Teachers across four charter schools in Sacramento are trying to unionize. The teachers are unhappy with the high turnover rates among staff and the administration's lack of transparency. The schools are members of the St. Hope Public School District, a charter school network. Charter schools are typically non-union, but more than 50 percent of teachers within St. Hope have signed a petition stating that they wish to unionize. If the teachers unionize, it could threaten the St. Hope's leadership.
