Teaching is a profession with little comparison
According to a study by the Economic Policy Institute, teachers earned about 14 percent less than comparable workers in other fields, putting them at a pay disadvantage. The gap between teacher pay and other pay has been widening, particularly for female teachers compared to females in other fields. Some dispute the results of the study pointing out that it is difficult to determine what constitutes a ?comparable occupation.?
