Teamsters' investigator steps down
Edwin Stier, the Teamsters' top internal investigator, has resigned, accusing the union of undermining his efforts. Steir was hired to investigate ties between organized crime and Chicago locals and fight corruption. He claims that he found substantial evidence leading him to conclude that organized crime threatened the union. The union released a statement questioning the credibility of Stier?s allegations.
