Tentative agreement reached between Kaiser Permanente and the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions
After three days of striking, Kaiser Permanente and the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions have reached a tentative agreement. The strike was the largest healthcare strike in US history, with 75,000 employees walking out last week. The Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions had announced that eight more days of strike action would potentially be taken in November. The proposed strike action was called off after the agreement was reached. The new agreement will set a minimum wage for all Kaiser Permanente employees, and the minimum wage would be $23/hour in all locations except California, which will have a $25/hour minimum wage. Wages over the next four years will also increase by 21% in total, and the company will increase hiring initiatives to reduce worker shortages. Union members will vote on the proposed agreement soon, and if members reject the contract, strike action could continue.
