Tentative Labor Pact Reached With New York Firefighters’ Union
Firefighters in New York City reached a tentative deal with the city for a new seven year contract. The deal features provisions for back-dated raises, new hires, and increased protection for disability pensions. In addition, the average starting salary for firefighters would increase by roughly $8000 in the next two years. The contract now will be reviewed by the membership of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, followed by a ratification vote.
