Thai workers describe being lured into slavery in U.S.
The president of Global Horizons Manpower Inc., a California labor contracting firm, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Hawaii for labor trafficking. Thai workers spoke of being recruited by the firm and promised a higher salary, and instead being imprisoned and force to work. Authorities say that this is the largest labor-trafficking case in United States history, and it has been going on for around 7 years. The grand jury also indicted four of the companies employees for coercion of around 400 workers. The trial of the president will take place in November. Both Thai and U.S. authorities said that they are working together to stop trafficking between the two countries.
