The 2 Supreme Court Cases That Could Put a Dagger in Organized Labor
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear two cases that could potentially either exacerbate or stem declining private sector unionization in the United States. In Noel Canning v. NLRB, the Court will issue a ruling on the viability of several recess appointments that President Obama made to the Board. In Mulhall v. UNITE HERE Local 355, the Court will rule on the legality of ?organizing agreements,? an organizing strategy that has been particularly successful to unions in the last decade and is now being challenged under anti-corruption laws. Organized labor eagerly awaits the decisions of the Court, which is set to hear both cases this year.
