The brave new workplace
New research from Spherion Employment Solutions has found that by 2007, more than half of the U.S. workforce will be made up of "emergent" workers who have replaced traditional workplace values such as loyalty and stability with a demand for flexibility and new experiences. This new class of workers does not expect to stay with one company for the duration of their career and welcomes job changes as a vehicle for growth. In response to this trend many employers are offering more flexible work arrangements such as telecommuting and compressed workweeks.
